Zhanjiang Port

Situated in the southwestern part of Guangdong Province, Zhanjiang Port is one of China’s most important deep-water natural harbors and a national first-class open port. Facing the South China Sea, it serves as a major maritime gateway linking southern China with Southeast Asia, Africa, and beyond. Its deep, wide, and sheltered channels can accommodate vessels up to 400,000 DWT, making it one of the few ports in China capable of handling ultra-large crude carriers (ULCCs).

Zhanjiang Port is a core part of the Zhanjiang Economic and Technological Development Zone, supporting the rapid growth of industries such as steel, petrochemicals, paper, and energy. It features specialized terminals for bulk cargo, oil, chemicals, containers, and LNG. Notably, it supports operations for major enterprises including Baosteel’s Zhanjiang Iron and Steel Base, Sinopec’s Zhanjiang Refinery, and Sinochem’s large-scale petrochemical facilities.

The port is expanding rapidly with the Donghai Island Industrial Zone, which integrates port logistics, refining, and advanced manufacturing. The ongoing development of its LNG receiving terminal and petrochemical berths enhances Zhanjiang’s role as a critical energy import hub for southern China.

With advanced digital management systems and green port initiatives, Zhanjiang Port is transforming into a world-class integrated port cluster that connects China’s southern coast to global trade routes while supporting regional economic transformation.
